1.1.Location, economy and trade
Ukraine is located in Eastern Europe, on routes between the EU, the Black Sea and neighbouring markets. Its economy is operating in a reconstruction context, with agriculture, industry and alternative routes playing a material role. In day-to-day operations, the strongest concentration of demand is around: Kijów, Lwów, Odesa, Dnipro, Użhorod.
Trade is particularly connected with the following markets: Poland, Romania, Germany, Turkey and China. For transport, recurring industrial and distribution flows to and from the main economic hubs are the key factor.
The currency is the hryvnia (UAH); introduced in 1996; Ukraine is not in the euro area. Always confirm the exchange rate before pricing freight, tolls or ancillary costs.
