1.1.Location, economy and trade
Netherlands is located in Western Europe, with access to major North Sea ports. Its economy is high-value, with a large share of specialised manufacturing and services. In day-to-day operations, the strongest concentration of demand is around: Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Utrecht, Venlo.
Trade is particularly connected with the following markets: Germany, Belgium, France, United Kingdom and United States. For transport, recurring industrial and distribution flows to and from the main economic hubs are the key factor.
The currency is the euro (EUR); in the euro area since 1999; banknotes and coins since 2002. Always confirm the exchange rate before pricing freight, tolls or ancillary costs.
