1.1.Location, economy and trade
Moldova is located in Eastern Europe, on routes between the EU, the Black Sea and neighbouring markets. Its economy is agri-industrial, gradually diversifying its export base. In day-to-day operations, the strongest concentration of demand is around: Kiszyniów, Bălți, Cahul, Ungheni, Giurgiulești.
Trade is particularly connected with the following markets: Romania, Ukraine, Italy, Germany and Turkey. For transport, recurring industrial and distribution flows to and from the main economic hubs are the key factor.
The currency is the Moldovan leu (MDL); introduced in 1993. Always confirm the exchange rate before pricing freight, tolls or ancillary costs.
