1.1.Location, economy and trade
Austria is located in Central Europe, on Alpine north–south and east–west corridors. Its economy is strongly export-oriented, based on industry, services and EU linkages. In day-to-day operations, the strongest concentration of demand is around: Wiedeń, Linz, Graz, Salzburg, Innsbruck.
Trade is particularly connected with the following markets: Germany, Italy, Switzerland, United States and Czechia. For transport, recurring industrial and distribution flows to and from the main economic hubs are the key factor.
The currency is the euro (EUR); in the euro area since 1999; banknotes and coins since 2002. Always confirm the exchange rate before pricing freight, tolls or ancillary costs.
