1.1.Location, economy and trade
Albania is located in South-East Europe, on routes connecting the Balkans with EU markets. Its economy is service- and tourism-led, with growing roles for construction, energy and trade. In day-to-day operations, the strongest concentration of demand is around: Tirana, Durrës, Vlorë, Shkodër.
Trade is particularly connected with the following markets: Italy, Greece, Kosovo, Germany and Turkey. For transport, recurring industrial and distribution flows to and from the main economic hubs are the key factor.
The currency is the Albanian lek (ALL); in circulation since 1926; Albania is not part of the euro area. Always confirm the exchange rate before pricing freight, tolls or ancillary costs.
